The crisis in Fukushima Japan has raised the controversy about nuke plants. Since the accident that is said to be caused by the huge earth quake and the tsunami (which I doubt), some countries such as Germany stopped using their nuke plant. People have claimed to use renewable energy instead of nuke, but what are chances? My answer is yes, but only if you can pay the triple of the current price and are brave enough to abandon your convenient life.
What is an energy strategy for our future? I found Bill Gates' presentation about Terra Power that he has invested on. Terra Power is a startup to make nuke plants with new technology and Bill gives us really an insightful story of the future of nuke plants from a business man's point of view.
The impressive point I got is that he never states to use nuke plants or not to use emotionally.
He sets a goal or an objective that is what problems for developing countries are at first and found nuke plants are the most effective way to achieve the goals.

Once A Design Thinker: F*** Design Thinking
Design thinking is becoming a huge hype, but I feel somehow it is overrated. What do you think the coolest thing design thinking has ever created? The first Mac mouse? The evidence that all design thinking lovers may not come up with one that cannot compete the excellence of iphone or walkman proofs my thought.
I think ones of the best design thinking-ed ideas are the term design thinking itself and the expansion of the definition of innovation. Tim Brown and IDEO clues made design thinking to differentiate the company from other design firms and succeeded in branding. Concurrently, design thinking changed the definition of innovation. Suggesting the graph below, conventional "innovation" ment technologically valuable and design-ly valuable or just technologically valuable, however design thinking added only design-ly valuable zone to the definition of innovation.
Don't misunderstand, I am one of the big funs of design thinking. Design thinking methodology has been being developed rapidly, but it is not still perfect. The application of design thinking method to the technology area will be a key of the future of design thinking that is toward our cool and sustainable society.
